The Real Reason I Want To Be A Lawyer: Part II
In my contracts class, we discussed the case of Leonard v. Pepsico. Some asshat saw the above ad and decided "I'm going to get myself a Harrier Jet". Of course, this would have been my same attitude when I saw this ad at age 10. But it took some 21 year-old douchebag to try and actually claim the prize seen in the ad.
He of course failed, for a variety of reasons (one, an ad is not an offer and two, it was so ridiculous that no reasonable person could construe it as an offer, for example), but let us not forget Leonard. He saw that there were 7 million Pepsi points needed, and deciding he didn't want to drink the necessary Pepsi products to gain the points, but that he would buy the points as Pepsi allowed, at 10 cents a point. We must also remember the 5 other investors that he got to tag along to get him to raise the $700k necessary to complete the transaction (once he had the minimum 15 Pepsi points, so he did have to endure the Unclean Cola to some extent). Those fuckheads need to be remembered as well.
The only thing I could think when reading the hilarious decision (complete with dissection of the nature of humor (no, seriously)) was 1) I really need to smack this kid and 2) I hope he gets tooth decay. And I think if I was a judge, I'd make this happen.
See, law school isn't totally lame.

Welcome to New Yawk
So what's my take on New York? I'll provide a long, rambling rant that might make you chuckle once soon enough, but, like many things, it can be best described through the eyes of "The Critic":

Youtube Treats -- Patriotic, slam, fight, bright light, feeling pretty psyched Edition
Like any good patriot, we're all still (ahem) hungover from partying during Independence Day. Actually, that's a lie. We're just celebrating another American virtue--laziness. So we're just going to pop in a video before we get back from our "vacation" to writing actual columns.
And sure, we could have used a song with maybe a better connection to the holiday, or at least more obvious--like Soundgarden's "4th of July" and Elliott Smith's "Independence Day"--but where's the fun in that? Instead, I'll indulge in the slight Better Than Ezra kick I've been on, and play a Golden Oldie from the halcyon 90's.
Well maybe I'll call or write you a letter
Now maybe we'll see on the Fourth of July
But I'm not too sure
And I'm not too proud
Well I'm not to sure
And I'm not to proud to say...

Why We Shouldn't Care About West Virginia
No, West Virginia is the kind of state where this happens. That's right, over 60% of the voters in West Virginia thought that Hillary's "Gas Tax Holiday" idea was a bang-up idea, good show, and all that. In West Virginia, they don't care that EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN ECONOMIST says it's a failure of an idea, and that anyone who has spent more than...3 seconds thinking about the idea also realizes this is the case.
I think the fact that West Virginia not only voted for Bush once, but TWICE, should indicate the level of intelligence of the electorate there. But for once, Bush has the right words to say about that kind of thinking:

Fiesta Friday: New NIN Edition!

Because Fridays are for parties!
Today we have a very special edition of Fiesta Friday, so I hope y’all enjoy it.
So I’m still excited about the new Nine Inch Nails album Ghosts I-IV, and I decided to put another post up relating to it. Now I know the video above is NOT a new one (Or rather the video that would be up there if YouTube did what it was supposed to (Nic, I might need some help here)), but it relates in that it was made at a time when
While I was looking for this video I also stumbled upon some little treats in YouTube form. I found an episode of Hard Copy (You remember Hard Copy?) that features
So enjoy this fine end to the week and get you party on!
